EPOXY-ROD UNDERWATER

REPAIRS TO: ANY UNDERWATER SURFACES

WHAT IS EPOXY-ROD UNDERWATER?

Epoxy Rod Underwater is a hand-mixable, specialty epoxy putty for repairs to damp, wet areas and underwater surfaces. After mixing, it forms a polymer compound that may be applied underwater in either fresh or salt water and will bond tenaciously to substrates such as fiberglass, concrete, ceramic, glass, metal, wood, and many plastics.

FURTHER DETAIL

Looking like a stick of rock from Brighton, Epoxy Rod Underwater has been design to ensure that the mix of Resin and Hardener is correct every time.

The outside layer is the Resin layer, with the inner center, the Hardener, is separated from the Resin by a waxen barrier.

Tearing, cutting or pulling from the rod will ensure the correct % of each, base and hardener and will be correct to effect a cure.

Epoxy-Rod Underwater is especially useful when effecting a repair on a split or punctured tanking. If access can be gained to the inside of the tank, Epoxy-Rod Underwater can be applied to the inner surface where pressure will hold Epoxy-Rod Underwater in place as you mold the repair material to ensure a seal.

Epoxy-Rod Underwater has WRAS approval, which means it is safe to use with vessels or piping containing drinking water.

Epoxy-Rod Underwater is so useful when the repair required is difficult due to space or the sensitive issue of a fire hazard when brazing, welding or soldering in the area.

Epoxy-Rod Underwater can be used to repair freeze breaks, leaking household hot waterlines and other plumbing problems.

Epoxy-Rod Underwater will seal gutters, downspouts, pipes, elbows, joints, sleeves, traps, tanks and will bond to damp, wet and slow leaking surfaces.

Epoxy-Rod Underwater cures in 30 minutes to form a chemically inert repair.

After which, Epoxy-Rod Underwater can be molded, sanded, drilled, filed to give the perfect finish.

Epoxy-Rod Underwater can be over painted if required to complete the repair.

USEFUL TIP

What is happening while a repair is being done.

Mixing:

Twist or cut off required amount. To mix, knead with fingers to a uniform colour.

If mixing is difficult, warm Epoxy-Rod Copper to room temperature or slightly above.

Application:

Apply to the surface to be repaired (within 30 minutes of mixing).

The mixed epoxy does not exhibit high bond strength at this point, but appears to be merely lying on the surface. Force into any cracks or holes to be filled and strike off excess material, preferably with a tool wetted with clean water.

Work the material forcefully into the surface and apply pressure until adhesion begins to take effect.

Appearance:

For a smooth appearance of the cured compound, hand rub with water or a damp cloth prior to hardening.

Remove excess material before

hardening begins.

Cure:

After 30 minutes the epoxy will harden like metal and start to form a tenacious bond.

After just 60 minutes Epoxy-Rod Underwater has achieved an initial cure and can be drilled, sawed, carved, sanded, stained or painted.

ANOTHER USEFUL TIP

In order to achieve optimum adhesion the surface should be cleaned free of grease or dirt.

Scuffing or sanding the surface prior to cleaning helps to ensure a good bond.
